Southern Nigerian Aro Expedition (1901-1902)

The South Nigerian Aro expedition represents another British expedition during this period. Conflict arose between the British and the Aro people as a result of colonialism, since the Aros refused to accept British rule or Christianity. The Aro Expedition, led by the Royal Niger Company and Sir Ralph Moore, was signalled when the Aros attacked Obegu, a rival town controlled by the British troops. Many battles took place before the operation was sanctioned in November 1901. The Expedition ended in January 1902 with British victory.
