Mariners

The New Brunswick Museum is rich in exotic artefacts from around the world donated by mariners, their families and their descendants. Research has brought to light biographical information about the mariners that tells us something of who they were and where they traveled. It is rare, however, that we find a detailed report of a voyage that resulted in artefacts coming to the Museum. The story of the Rising Dawn, reported in the Record of the Shipping of Yarmouth, N.S. of 1876, is one of those rare cases.
