As cities, towns and villages developed in the province over the past two centuries, green spaces for the enjoyment of the public have taken on more and more importance.

Communities invest significant efforts into the development and maintenance of parks as visible symbols of civic vitality and progress. Improving quality of life and providing relief from urban stress for citizens are the results of well-planned and effectively managed parks. In addition to metropolitan parks, areas of the province designated as unique natural environments have been set aside for posterity and have become an integral part of New Brunswick’s outdoor identity.
