Crimean War

According to the Mechanics’ Institute’s 1883 list, this helmet was from the Crimean War (1853-1856). There must be a story behind this cryptic entry, but unfortunately nothing further was recorded. Whether it was claimed from the battlefield and by whom, how it came to New Brunswick and how it fell into the hands of Robert William Crookshank Jr. may never be known.
