Antrodia heteromorpha (Fr.) Donk

Antrodia heteromorpha is one of several Antrodia species found in eastern Canada. It is fairly typical of its genus in having effused-reflexed basidiomata, with the effused parts usually rather more in evidence than the reflexed ones. In some instances it may occur on the underside of a log and be entirely resupinate, that is, all effused and not at all reflexed. It is often found on dead standing trees but may also occur on fallen logs. The basidiomata in the photo were produced on the sides of a log of balsam fir that had been cut and then left to decay on the ground.
