Notes: George Scammell Cushing (1861-1934), son of George Byron Cushing ( 1831-1888), succeeded his father’s interest in the Andre Cushing and Company in 1889. On 10 April 1895, the entire mill was destroyed by fire and was rebuilt by 1896, employing up to 225 men. To utilize the waste from the mill, George Cushing, organized the Cushing Sulphite Fibre Company, with mills expanding to employ over 250 men, by 1899.
