Maurice Sacobie: Well I stayed with Marjorie Perley there for quite awhile. I decided to make baskets and she said, “I’ll help you.” I know how to do it, eh, but the basic things I really had to have help. She said, “I’ll help you then.” I got my ash all together and she, she helped me with the little things and I, it didn’t take me long, because thinking back what my uncles were doing I could see them, eh, I could see the patterns of the baskets they were doing. I could see. That’s how I worked on it, eh. I went on from there. I got so I could make, well, anything then. I don’t know about now, I’m kind of a little rusty.
Maurice Sacobie : Ben, je suis resté avec Marjorie Perley pendant un bon bout de temps. J’avais décidé de fabriquer des paniers et elle m’a dit : « Je vais t’aider. » Je savais comment faire, hein, mais pour la technique de base, j’avais besoin d’aide. Elle m’a dit : « Alors je vais t’aider. » J’ai récupéré tout mon frêne et Marjorie m’a aidé pour les petites choses. Il ne m’a pas fallu bien longtemps, parce que je me rappelais ce que mes oncles faisaient, je revoyais les modèles des paniers qu’ils fabriquaient. Je les revoyais. C’est comme ça que j’ai fait, et j’ai continué à partir de là. Je suis arrivé à un point où je pouvais fabriquer quasiment n’importe quoi. Maintenant, je ne sais pas, je suis un peu rouillé.
