Discussion of the Winter Ascomycota Checklist

Most of the Ascomycota you will find in winter will be producing either perithecia of apothecia. Perithecia will be sitting on the surface of wood or immersed with only the tip of the neck exposed. They may occur singly, as scattered individuals or clustered together within a stroma.
