Mycena cf. atroalboides (Peck) Sacc.

Picture of Mycena atroalboides

Scattered in deep moss, near Dryas integrifolia on a gypsum talus slope. Wilson Brook Protected Natural Area, New Brunswick (02-10-12/03).

Basidiospores 7.1-8.0 X 4.7-5.8 μm, D/d = 1.38-1.60

Collection 02-10-12/03 had quite long stipes attached deeply in the moss carpet and had fairly broad basidiospores. Although similar to M. atroalboides, as described by Smith (North American Species of Mycena), as representing the long-stiped form, it differs in it's short and broad basidiospores.
