Hebeloma incarnatulum
Hebeloma incarnatulum A.H. Smith
Scattered (many) in leaf litter under Betula papyrifera and B. alleghaniensis, Campobello Island, New Brunswick (25-09-16/05).
Cheilocystidia clavate-ventricose, 42.6-57.5 X 5.1-7.4 X 6.6-10.6 μm (average = 49.8 X 6.4 X 8.0 μm). Basidiospores citriform, finely roughebed, 10.6-12.3 X 5.4-6.4 μm, D/d = 1.80-2.08. Although the base of the stipe is not visible in the photo, it was strongly bulbous. The sketch below was made from fresh fruiting bodies in the field lab.
