Gymnopus confluens (Pers.) Antonín, Halling & Noordeloos

Gregarious in leaf litter, associated with Acer rubrum and Populus tremuloides, Nepisiguit Protected Natural Area, Northumberland Co., New Brunswick (16-08-16/10, 20-08-16/06).

Basidiospores dacryoid, 7.6-8.9 X 3.1-4.3 μm D/d = 1.75-2.53

Although usually found growing in clusters, the fruiting bodies of 20-08-16/06 grew individually. The caps of this collection were somewhat dry and had faded. Compare these with the fresh and fully hydrated fruiting bodies of 16-08-16/10, collected in the Nepisiguit Protected Natural Area a few days earlier.
