Scattered (2) amongst mosses at the margin of a floating bog, most closely associated with Picea mariana, Spednic Lake Protected Natural Area, New Brunswick (21-06-17/04).

Basidiospores white in spore print, ellipsoidal, smooth, with a prominent apiculus, 5.2-7.6 X 3.8-5.1 µm, D/d = 1.30-1.67 (average[32]: 6.3 X 4.3 µm, D/d = 1.47). Cheilocystidia filamentous, occasionally branched or lobed.

Gliophorus laetus is a very slimy little mushroom recognized by having both pileus and stipe slimy, by its bright yellow to orange colours and decurrent lamellae. Its odour is not plesant and has been described as burnt rubber, fish or skunk.
