Picture of Cortinarius bivelus

Gregarious (2) in soil and litter at margin of driveway under Abies balsamea, Betula cordifolia and Picea mariana, Little Lepreau, New Brunswick (01-10-16/01).

Basidiospores ellipsoidal, 8.3-9.7 X 5.1-6.0 μm, D/d = 1.56-1.71

Recognized by its apricot-coloured pileus, bulbous stipe with a conspicuous white ring and the bright orange-red colour of the mature gills. The pale colour of the cap in the field photo is due to photographic overexposure.
