Clitopilus prunulus
Clitopilus prunulus (Scop.:Fr.) P. Kumm.
Gregarious in leaf litter under Abies balsamea and Populus tremuloides, Nepisiguit Protected Natural Area, Northumberland Co., New Brunswick (20-08-16/05).
Basidiospores forming a pink print, 9.7-11.0 X 5.1-6.0 μm D/d = 1.65-2.03, longitudinally ribbed with 6-8 ridges
Recognized in the field by the white fruiting bodies with decurrent gills and by its strong odour of fresh flour (farinaceous). The ribbed basidiospores that are 6-8-sided in top view are also diagnostic.
